Care Placements Service Procedures

The Integrated Commissioning Unit (ICU) is a joint commissioning team for NHS Southampton Clinical Commissioning Group and Southampton City Council. It was established in November 2013 and is based across both organisations with responsibility for care placements / Brokerage.

The Care Placement service will find service providers who can meet the needs and choices required and give information about service providers, for example, costs of the service, registration details, star ratings or whether the provider can meet specific preferences.

Alongside arranging services for people who require them and working alongside personal budgets agreeing support plans as worked on with a social worker

Provision of information about different types of support available from the statutory, independent and voluntary sector also providing information about a range of different services - day services care, home care, residential and nursing care homes and the financial pathways which accompany this service area.
